The Cantu Shea Butter line has been extremely popular in the natural hair care community.  One of the most used products is their Leave In Conditioning Repair Cream.  Now, Cantu Beauty has introduced a new product line, geared towards natural hair.  Today, I’m going to talk about my experience with the Sulfate-Free Cleansing Cream Shampoo, Sulfate-Free Hydrating Cream Conditioner, and the Deep Treatment Masque.

These products from the Natural Hair line state that they contain no sulfates, silicones, parabens, or mineral oil.  All three are made with 100% shea butter.

Shampoo ( $8 for 13.5 fl oz ).  After the first application, my hair felt soft.  The directions on the shampoo state that a second lather and rinse are recommended for hair with heavy product build-up.  I decided to do a second round of shampooing, just to see how my hair would feel.  Even after the second lather my hair still felt good.  It didn’t feel dry or stripped at all.

Conditioner ($13 for 13.5 fl oz ).  Like most products, the directions state that for best results, the conditioner should be used in conjunction with the Sulfate-Free Cleansing Cream Shampoo.  I applied a generous amount of the conditioner to my hair.  Since I was going to use the Masque immediately following the conditioner, I didn’t feel the need to let this product “sit”.  Once I finished applying it all over my hair, I proceeded with rinsing it out with cool water.  My hair felt really soft and moisturized.  I really could have gone without using the deep treatment masque, that’s how good my hair felt!

Deep Treatment Masque ( $13 for 12 fl oz )

The directions said to thoroughly coat the hair, paying extra attention to the ends (since those are the oldest parts of your hair).  Thick, creamy conditioners are a weakness of mine!  This masque definitely fit the description.  It felt good to apply such a heavy conditioning product to my hair.  I then covered my hair with a plastic cap and let it process for 30 minutes before rinsing it out.

There weren’t any directions on the jar that stated you could use this product with heat (which is something I’m always looking for when it comes to a deep treatment conditioning/repair type of product).  However, after rinsing, my hair didn’t feel as soft as it did prior to applying the product.  This is typical for my hair after using deep treatment products that are geared towards strengthening and repairing damaged hair.  This isn’t necessarily a “bad” thing.  I just know that for my hair, masques typically mean a “protein” type of treatment for my hair (which I naturally have to follow up with a conditioning type of product).

The directions also stated that for hair that is extremely damaged, this masque can be used as a leave-in conditioner.  Well, my hair isn’t that damaged so I didn’t test this part out.

CantuOverallThoughts

Throughout the first two steps (shampoo and conditioner), my hair consistently felt moisturized and soft.  After applying the masque, my hair did feel stronger.  Because the masque was more of a protein conditioner for my hair, I followed up with the Leave-In Conditioning Cream.  To style, I slicked down my edges with some of the Hair Dressing Pomade, pulled my hair into a low bun, and applied the Coconut Curling Cream to my loose puff.  All three of the products used had a tropical type of smell (which didn’t bother me at all).  For how inexpensive these products are, and how easy it is to find them in a drugstore, I would definitely recommend them to others.

Have you used any of these products?  What were your results?
